HANA MENDEL
Since graduating from Columbus College of Art & Design, I’ve worked as a freelance photographer and visual artist, with work appearing in The New Yorker, New York Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, GQ, and WIRED.
My work plays with composition and the occasional first-person perspective to create a more immersive, introspective experience. Rather than focusing on the literal, I aim to capture tone and atmosphere. Influenced by the magical realist stories of my Cajun and Eastern European Jewish roots, I embrace a sense of gestalt in my creative process—completing familiar scenes with an almost caricature-like quality.
